third party image this is the bell housing on a 52 super athird party image this one with the bolt is from 1940 a you see the holes are different? i have a sickle mower for the 52 and i want to put on the 40 a any sugestions any reasons not drill and tap new holes in the 40? ive been told to modify the mower but might need to put back on the supera sometime what ya think?

Hugh is correct. There may be reinforcements in the casting behind the existing holes to make the stock holes strong. They might not be behind the new hole location. The mower might have a plate big enough to drill without adding metal. Be careful, make a template from heavy tag board, and make the holes after center punching. Keep things square. JimN

Terry: Modify the mower, do it with a piece of 3/8" plate size of the square on each side and drill the holes for both tractors.
