Speakin' of seats...

I have a cast iron "Walter A. Wood" seat on my F14. Yes, I know it's not correct, but this tractor is a worker, not a trailer queen, so I'm not concerned about that.

What I AM concerned about is my butt freezing to the seat this time of year. I tried one of those cheapo vinyl covered "IHC" (must be, it was red and white...) tie on covers. Three problems with that: It didn't fit, that vinyl is too slick to sit on and not much warmer than the cast iron.

So I'm thinking what I need is a seat pan with padding and that nifty silver canvas cover off a letter series. The flip-over-to-keep-it-dry option would be nice too.

Anybody know how much of a PITA it would be to adapt something like that? My seat is the leaf spring mount over the powerlift unit, not the coil spring and post type.

Not to discourage you, but the canvas seats do not last, they are more for originality on a little used tractor than lasting if used frequently. They are also next to impossible to keep clean--on working tractors I doubt if that is an issue.

I have not got the name, but there is a gentleman on this forum (or known) who is replacing the canvas seats professionally. I would --- Search For--- Farmall silver seats. Good luck, others may chime in with the answer. JimN

Hmmmmm m. Hope he shows up. I've got a line on a seat assembly at what seems like a reasonable price, if I can get it recovered without breaking the bank, that'd get 'er done.

His name is Darrell Darst. You send in your old seat pan and he recovers it. Price is $125. I have his contact info if you want it.

I think he knows where to get the seat. He wants to know how to make it fit his tractor. Gordo

Well, yes and no...

One of the folks on the classifieds was kind enough to send me a closeup of a flipup seat assembly off a Super C. It won't be practical to use the entire assembly, but the seat pan and mount (without the suspension) would be a fairly straightforward adaptation.

Now I need to find one with the padding and upholstery intact.

If so, the details will be in brackets and pivots, strong enough to keep it solid when sat on. (I recollect our SH seat was strong enough when flipped that My brother and I would sit on its underside to make the spring go down, and use it as a platform for jumping to parts of a MH2 picker in the "red shed" Pictures would help with suggestions.
