IHC Reflector Set

I came across an IHC reflector set over the weekend. The set is three pairs of brass-framed red reflectors and they are in an aluminum box about 4"x4" square by 8" long or so. There's also a couple of U-shaped wires and a red handkerchief or cloth. On the box is the IHC logo and under it the words "REFLECTOR-FLARE". Anyone ever come across this set? I assume the set is more for an over-the-road truck instead of a tractor, but just the same it looks like a good piece of IHC history. If anyone has any info on where these were used, I'd appreciate it.

They were the standard roadside reflectors before the triangular ones came along and after the kerosene flares.

I bought the exact same thing at an auction about a year ago. The box is painted gold right?

Mine is missing one little part if I remember right.

It was definately for truckers, I am guessing about 1970's era.

I have an 1972 IH 1600. Started it yesterday for the first time in about 2 months.

Gene,

This one is silver--looks like the box is aluminum but I didn't put a magnet on it.

You're right the flag and flare set came with new trucks. You would put them on the road around a truck that was broke down.
