I have found a round baler, an IH 2400 and am wondering if these are worth a flip or not. It looks to be in pretty good shape, just normal wear and tear.

When were these things made and what would be a good price range? I intend to run it with my SM.

They are a real good machine. We run one for several years with around 1200 bales per year.If it has the electric "Place Rite" tie system You will need a 12 volt system. If it doesnt then it will be rope operated tie system.

This one looks to have the electric tie system.

Is there anything in particular on this model I should check before buying?

Mainly check bearings.Make sure none of the rollers inside the big bottom belt are broken. If it has decent belts on it,the rest is just maintenance, roller chains and etc.Even if the electric tie quits You can still tie by hand with a rope if you have too.Not very much to mess up
