Can anyone tell me what the correct fluids are for my 1949 Cub? According to my manual, the Steering box, transmission, hydraulic pump, and final drives all use the same fluid. Hy-Tran fluid or 303 hydraulic fluid. I read a post and someone else said they were using 80-90w in the trans. and that this is the correct fluid. What is the right one???

I use 15w40 in all my tractor engines just because i dont want to buy 2 or 3 different kinds. In the touch control i wouldnt use any thing but hytran from case. In the gear box i use 80 90, it works good .

You'd better look again at your manual.80w90 would be right for the steering box, final drives and transmission, but would be too heavy for the hydraulics.

My opinion, for what its worth,is that a good grade of 10w40,or 10w30 motor oil would do justy fine in the hydraulics.Hy-tran is expensive and unnecessary in these older tractors, newer ones, yes. My Super C calls for ''Touch Control'' fluid, whatever that was.

Todays engine oils are designed to withstand more from modern engines than the older engine oils. They'll stand up to the hydraulics on your Cub.

If your going to use motor oil in the TC system then use 10wND. that was the optional oil for the time. Its avaible at TSC.

everything except the TC unit uses 80w-90, for the TC unit use hy tran or other compatable hydro oil.
