I have my tractor split right now, so I want to know how to tell if the the clutch is 1/2 worn or not. I split it to get the block repaired, and I didn't drive it before, so I don't know how it functioned before.

Thanks

Its not to the rivets yet, and it doesn't have near as many either. It is probably within 1/8-1/16 of an inch to the rivets. If it isn't too expensive, I may just bite the bullet and do it.(but it really wasn't hard to split, even for a complete rookie)

BTW: got any good recommendations for dial calipers? Need to measure crankshaft journals while it is out.

Thanks again

I like the Starrett's too.

Calipers aren't quite as accurate on a shaft like that as a micrometer, but not unacceptable. Just take several measurments at each point, remembering that you're looking for out of round as much as wear in the round.

How about a MITUTOYO, seem to still be a decent name, and a little less $$$. I honestly won't be using it much, that is why I want a caliper insted of a micrometer, it is a little more versatile.

if you've got an 1/8 to the rivets you should be fine. the new disk has around 1/8-3/16 meat before the rivets. if you ever need to you can do the clutch thru the belly pump hole. for a dial caliper, i like the starretts, here is a link

wow, you're in luck, just happen to have a brand new disk under my desk for my super m. disk measures 3/8 inch thick new. you should still have some meat left on the linings before the rivets. if not, replace it. heres some pics. pics are fun!!!!
