My whole 3 car garage is now an F-20 restoration project. My wife even has to park her new car outside in the winter. What started out as a hobby has taken over a good part of my life. Every part has been taken off my F-20. Every part has been carefully cleaned, any imperfections in the metal filled in, sometimes multiple times to get it just right, and then primered. The dining room table is covered with parts that have been carefully placed there until they can be painted. Every nut and bolt has been cleaned or replaced. Money seems to be no object. Although it should be. Every original manual has been found and purchased sometimes at considerable cost. My Ebay shortcuts are all Farmall related. F-20 has been spelled every way possible just in case someone lists a part I may or may not need and spelled it oddly. I check the tractor forum multiple times a day to make sure I don't miss any pertinent tip or information. I have plans months ahead to attend tractor shows. (never been to one) A watchful eye is always present so that if a piece of optional equipment that was made comes up for sale I must have it. My children have been sent on missions out of state to pick up parts I have purchased sight unseen. I dream of Farmalls. I live in a residential neighborhood and have 2 farm tractors. My neighbors eye me suspiciously because there must be something wrong. I look forward to weekends, not because I don't have to work, but because I CAN work on my F-20. I subscribe to Red Power magazine. I contemplate buying another F-20. Not because I need it but because I may need it. There is bondo dust in the living room next to my recliner where I gently sand small parts to perfection. I have a ring around my nose where the dust mask is tightly sealed for hours at a time. I have an electrolysis tank. I have purchased special tools that have no other purpose but to restore a tractor. I use the terms drawbar horsepower and belt pulley horsepower. I have a red riding lawnmower even though I have very little grass. I know the chemical properties of rust converters. I learned to braze. I used more oxy-acetylene in the last 3 months than in the last 10 years. I ran out of welding rod. I bought an engine hoist. I installed more lights so that I can see better. I have 2 toy F-20's in boxs next to my recliner. I now know what an ERTL is. I bought 6 different Farmall books on Ebay because they had color pictures. When I drive down the road and see rusty metal I do a U-turn to verify if it is something I may need. Gotta go now, UPS is here.

I bought my first tractor 10 months ago. Since then I have had 30+ tractors. I have been buying them, fixing them up a little, selling them and buying somemore. Right now I have 1 Cub, 3 A's, 2 SA's, 1 C, 1 SC, International 350U, IH 424, 5 Ford N series, Case VAI, Economy Powerking, Massey Harris 30, and a Leader tractor. Just setup my new sandblast cabinet and 40/40 tire machine. Setup my garages with torches, welders, parts washers, engine stands, engine lift, many air tools and compressors. So far the hobby has been paying for itself. May start stripping tractors sandblasting and painting parts and listing on Ebay. Hoping to go to my first show this spring. Happy Tractoring!

Oh, man is it! I started with my grandfather's f-12 in 1982 and now I have 30 tractors, steam engine, 35 hit-n-miss engines, 18 large implements, over 200 air cooled engines, Model T, Model A, a full machine/wood shop, and countless other items.

As they say, "you can't stop with only after one!"

I have it on good authority from a neighbour, that the condition will go into remission for a while, after the wife leaves beacuse of it. Unfortunately it will flare up again.

Scott, I let my wife read your post and she said "O my God" there is other guy"s like you! It all started when my son bought a farmall H when he was 15 years old. My grand father and father always used farmalls so I can"t falt him. Then I bought a F-14 and that was only the start now have about 25-30 tractors. Cubs up to F-30
Oldist 1927 regular, newist 1957 cub. I realy like the gray one. I do have fun fixing them all up and getting none running tractors running again. oldiron29

Although, I do need a gray one too, but I have a cub, B, BN, SC, H, F-12, and F-20.

Will feel complete when I have added a Regular, f-14, F-30, A, and SM. Aside from the cub and the A, I have a thing for red row-crop iron..... ..

I want to park them all in a row, in order, and take a picture..... ..... ....

a "sick" man I am..... .....

It may or may not be contagious... I made a friend in 1991 that had an F12 on display at the county fair - we bought it from him a week later, then an LB stationary engine, then an F14 to go with the F12, and on and on... This is what we had by July of '92:

I have since added quite a bit more to that, including 2 H's, a W-9, and a C.

What you appear to have is not an obsession but a passion. I have seen it myself many times, its not pretty. Your wife must be very understanding. My wife wears red to get my attention. Continue to invest in your healthy sanity as long as you can. I believe it helps you live longer!

There is no cure
My shop is setup just to work on my H's, can't wait to end my work day to go work on my tractors. I do need to watch my spending though
Tires, Rims & engine kits add up fast.
