I bought a battery box for my 1953 super m and from what I understand its a stage 1 tractor so the box goes under the gas tank. thats where the battery was when I bought the tractor but the box was missing. I bought a box but it doesnt seem to line up with anything to bolt down.could i be missing somthing? thanks

There is supposed to be a strap about 1 inch wide and about 12 inches long on top of the transmission cover that the battery box bolts to with two 3/8 in bolts. Many times these have been removed and thrown away and the bolt holes have filled up with crud. Also the battery box should have two slots in the bottom which slide on two special bolts that screw into the trans cover. HTH.

The box should have 2 slotes that go onto 2 special bolts with big heads that screw into top cover. They are used to slide box back and forth when accessing battery. What holds box is a steel strap that bolts under middle of box crosswise using 2 bolts into transmission cover housing. Its around 3/16 thick by 1 or 1-1/4 wide with bolt holes in each end to line up with battery box holes. It bolts on before box is installed.
