Don't look at 36 as old. Look at it as being half dead. That should cheer you up:) I'd trade you ages, but I'm too tired.

I always remember some remarks by older commedians (primarily George Burns, Bob Hope and the like) Re: age. "Age doesn't matter as long as your matter doesn't age". "A woman is as old as she looks but a man is never old until he stops looking". "Age is just a question of mind over matter - ff you don't mind, it doesn't matter". Some people are NEVER old as they have a positive attitude about life and enjoy the circumstances, no matter what. If you can't laugh at yourself from time to time, you are NOT enjoying life. Have a good 36th year.

Older than dirt in reply to Mike CA, 03-04-2008 07:50:33
Lets see now...looks like Henry and El Toro are the only ones older than me. And I think Hugh MacKay is just another kid. No wonder there"s so few of us who ever pulled a trailer plow. Grew up on letter series tractors, but the F20 scared me, too much of a beast.

Nowadays horsepower differences between tractors are often 50, 70, and more. Years ago while riding with dad in his milk truck (10 gal cans, bulk milk wasn"t invented yet) we stopped at a farmer (in Iowa) who had a nice shiny JD A on his yard. In those days, everyone farmed 160 A with an IH H, or JD B and a few horses. Dad was impressed and said "I see you got an A". Farmer said "Yeah, It"s always nice to have some extra power". Maybe 10 more than a JD B? That was huge in those days.

Now let"s see....where did I set that coffee cup?
Oh, oh, looks like maybe I forgot to make coffee.
Now where do we keep the can of coffee....Hey Wifey, where are the filters????

Mike, Happy Birthday you ol codger! LOL! Tomorrow is the first day of my 51st year. Spent 1/2 of today at the Dr.s Office figuring out the best recourse on my up-coming Total-shoulder replacement surgery!
Just wait till you have to cross that bridge. I hope not.
Later,
John A.

Best wishs to all on there day!! I was wondering what the average age of the folks who use this site were, know I have a good idea. I was curious if the young folks are interested in tractors as to keeping them alive and well in the distant future. I was born in '57 my toys were made in '38 and '47

Mike, Lessee, when I was 36 (back in '82) and about this date, I was enjoying a port visit to Melbourne, AUS. There were no red tractors in my barn, in fact, there was no barn! All that came after I retired from the canoe club and we took up roots here in the Pac Norwet. Like many of the others have said, there are no "Do-overs" with life. Enjoy what you have today and set some realistic goals for yourself both short and long term. When you are young you never think about growing old. It happens - so be ready for it! Hope you get that H purring like a kitten soon. HB

Let me tell you about old. I was 36 exactly one week after you were born. I know young people will not beleive this but next 10 years or so should be your best years and I know what it is like to be young but young do not know what it is like to be old.

I'm an Aircrewman in the Navy. I get a full Flight Physical every year, and they aren't fun.
As far as the H parts, I got a little money to spend, so Saturday I'm going to go pick up a few things I need, and finally start working on the H again. My goal is to have it running by mid-April so I can take it to the antique farm machine show and let the original owner drive it once again, as promised. 8)

Happy Birthday. I hope 36 is a better age for you than it was for me. If you havent get in and have a FULL physical. I was always healthy, till I turned 36, then-kidney stones, high cholesteral, prostate problems, belly fat, wife dont come in heat no more, transmission went out in the 1 ton, drought, discovered the ol back is shot, dont drink as much beer, all in one year. We'll see how 37 is this year. I bet your thinking "Oh yay", like I said, happy birthday.... and have a great year!!!

Happy Birthday Mike. I'm 53. I was 36 in 1990.
Went skydiving that May, got to feeling bad, found out my kidneys were failing and by October was on dialysis. So I am 17 years now with a transplant and doing well.

I only mention this because when you said you were 36 I was thinking to myself, wonder what I was doing when I was 36. When I figured out the year I sure remembered that year.

Just remember, every day is a good day!!

You will sone get over thinking that was old, it will seem as if it was yesterday twenty years from now. Seems 36 is when I.. I..... I.... I ..... OH my goodness I do remember! sorry to hear you are at that age. Happy B day regardless if you aren't going to be the man you used to be. Bet it takes thearapy to get you over my post now that you read it. As my dad always said the older I get the better I used to be.

Did you blow out all the candles in one breath or did you have to take a nap or a rest in between blows? OR JUST FORGRT WHAT YOU STARTED OUT TO DO? Have a happy.
