OK, third post on this tractor. Another question. What is wrong with the hydraulic system when the power steering won't work?

Filter is new
Brakes work
Front pump puts out pressure at the MCV orifice but no oil at the small sending unit above the MCV orifice.

Also, the 3 point is stuck in the up position, and remotes don't seem to pressure up.

Sure do appreciate the info and advice on the last two questions.

. HARD STEERING, POOR BRAKES, SLOW SHIFT OF TA. A. A. PLUGGED FILTER. A. A. CHECK FILTER. B. LOW PUMP VOLUME. B. FLOW RATE PUMP MUST BE TO CORRECT SPECIFICATION. C. WRONG STEERING ORIFICE INSTALLED. C. INSTALL CORRECT ORIFICE. D. DEFECTIVE HAND PUMP. D. FLOW RATE HAND PUMP MUST BE TO CORRECT SPECIFICATION. E. FLOW DIVIDER STUCK. E. FREE FLOW DIVIDER AND MAKE SURE IT MOVES FREELY.

actually, isn't it the position lever pushed all the way forward in the action control zone when the flow is restricted?

another cause of the hitch staying up: if your draft lever is all the way back (light), it will override the position control and can hold the hitch in the raised position.

the operators manuals say if an implement is unattatched to the hitch to put the draft lever all the way forward (heavy).

The steering, brakes, TA, and trans lube are supplied by the MCV pump, while the hitch and remotes are supplied by the rear pump. The only things they have in common are the filter and that they are driven by the LPTO shaft. See if your PTO is turning. If not, the splines between the pressure plate and the LPTO shaft are probably stripped out. I know you said the brakes work, but they will work somewhat even with no oil being supplied. The splines could be just good enough to drive the MCV enough to get the pressure you have. Hook an implement to the PTO that will put a bit of a load on it to verify that it holds. On the hitch, it will stick up if it hasn"t been used for awhile. Put the control lever in the forward position and push down on the hitch by hand. Another possibility on the remotes- make sure the draft control lever is pulled back to the rear and try them again. If the draft contol lever is all of the way forward, there will be very little flow to the remotes. This was IH"s attempt to give flow contol to the remotes, but it usually doesn"t work well.

The PTO does turn and I didn't have brakes before I primed the MCV pump. Once the MCV pump picked up oil the brakes pressured up. I wonder is air trapped in the line a possibility. If it is what is the best way to bleed the air out?

On the 3-point, we tried pushing it down by hand, didn't work so we got a cheater pipe, still didn't budge. The control lever is in the down position.

You don't have the three point lever pushed all the way forward do you? If you do this will dump all the hydraulic pressure to the remotes. If you look on the quadrant there is a notch about an inch from all the way ahead. To fully lower the three point the lever should be moved forward to this notch not all the way forward. As for the power steering there could be a stuck valve in the mcv or the steering valve that sits above the mcv on the clutch housing.
