I just finished cleaning and painting my 47 A. Starts and runs fine. Question: If and when I should need to charge battery, how should charger leads be connected? It is 6 volt with magneto and generator with cut-out relay and positive ground. I don't miss an evening getting all the latest forum info!

Positive or negative ground goes not matter if you hook the charger directly to the battery. Just hook the positive charger lead to the positive post on the battery and the negative lead to the negative post on the battery.

Use a 6 volt charger for a 6 volt battery of course. Or if selectable select the 6 volt setting on the charger.

Just do not let the negative charger lead/clip touch the frame or sheet metal or it will sparkum big time. if the battery is still hooked up.

Red to pos Black to neg. The battery doesn't care about the polarity of your system.

I charge my A by hooking the red(positive) to the tractor frame and the black(negative) to the battery neg. The reason I do this is the instructions with the 6 volt charger were to do so. It works just fine. Henry
