Here is what I have for a battery box for my H. I think there should be rubber bumbers on the lid, but I don't see how they attach if I were to get them.

What else is missing?

What are the correct fasteners I need for the bolts that hold down the lid?

And last, look at the holes. As you can see, the lid cut-out doesn't line up. Is this common, or a reproduction defect? Should I cut this out more to fit the cable?

Don't assume that when I nitpick I'm not getting the thing running. Quite the contrary. You guys will know when I'm working on the beast because I start posting stupid questions. As things pop into my mind, I ask them. For instance, I was trying to take out the aftermarket solenoid yesterday, and was right where the battery box should have been, so thought about what components I still needed to get for it.
Trust me, no one wants me to get it running by my April 18th deadline more than me.

Thanks, but not necessary. I found two bolts like you mentioned. I had forgotten I had them. They aren't in the picture because they are currently soaking in some cleaner so I can clean them up.
I'd be interested in seeing how you have your rubber bumpers applied so I can fit something similar.

The four bumpers are molded onto a flat washer.
Then a rectagular flat collar was slipped over them, id just the size of the bumper. Then the collars were tack welded to the lid. It's a factory original, not a homeade deal Two bumpers are 7/8 tsll. two sbout 1/2 inch. All are 1 1/4 diameter. You ought to quit nitpicking around and get the thing running. Then you will enjoy it and you can fuss with these details years from now. The way you are going you will be like the 15 year SMTAD guy:) You also need to go to a couple of shows where they"judge" tractors. Idiot judges, that worry about the markings on your light lenses, and don't know your engine came out of a NH combine!

The bracket with the 90 degree bend goes on the side of the tractor. The flat one lays horizontal on top of it and bolts into top of tranny. You'll need the two square head bolts that go in head up into those two channels in the box. You just loosen the nut on the outside bottom, and the box slides out on the tray, the square head bolts keeping it there, and not turning when you loosen the bottom nuts. I'll send you a pair. My lid has the four bumpers, but you can cumshaw a piece of thick rubber somewhere on the base, and lay it in there to keep the battery from bouncing and hitting the lid.

The battery cover hold down screws have a flat washer and wing nut.

The mis-aligned cut out on the lid is a manufacturing defect. Cables are the same size for both positive and negative.

The rubber bumpers you mention are referred to as "Battery Hold Down Rubbers" in the Parts Book, and are listed as two long ones and two short ones, and are fitted into the lid diagonally opposite to each other. I assume they are secured in place by some type of adhesive. However, personally I do not think they are essential as I haven't any lids with them in.

Sid.

Don't remember any rubber bumpers, not saying they weren't there. Our's had wing nuts to hold down the lid. I guess I didn't pay much attention to the holes in the box, but I would guess the large hole was for the positive and the small was for the negative. I can check with my brother in law but some how I think dad threw the top away years ago'which may answer your rubber question.
