Farmall F 12 Question

Recently found a 1936 F 12. It has a power lift under the seat that I haven`t noticed on other F 12`s It also has a wide front end with Kay Brunner cast wheels on the front and 36 inch round spoke rears. Do any of these features make this tractor unique?

A note on the power-lift. It became an option on new tractors at some point in the late 30s. My father bought a '38 with the lift on it. My grandfather had a '33 and had a lift put on his tractor ("retrofitted" is the new word for this, I guess). The pump is attached to the pulley shaft, I believe, and I THINK--but don't know for sure--that some adaptation (new shaft?) had to be done to retrofit the lift and pump. I know others have more info on the details, and if they are as nutty as I am about this old stuff, would be happy to tell you what they know.

Does the tractor run,does it start easy,I would never restore,or clean it up

I saw a F-12 with wide fronton steel sell at Polk's auction in northern Indiana for $7200.00. It was just a nice original tractor.

I'm drooling over that front end right now...

Tractor looks to be in fair original condition (or is an old repaint?). If it's original condition, my opinion would be to keep it that way.

The front end by itself is worth at least $1500 if not more. Wide fronts for F12/14 are quite rare. I've never seen one in person and only a few pictures of them. You say you "found" it - did you buy it?

The power lift was a option by IH and is pretty rare, I've never heard of those kind of wheels before. If the wide front is a original IH wide front, they are extremely hard to come by, I'd say you have a pretty rare F-12.

The power lift under the seat is fairly common but the wide front end is rare, especially if it is a IHC wide front end.

This is a picture of the front end. The Kay Brunner wheels are a after market Cast Steel wheel made in Los Angeles CA so rubber tires could replace the factory steel wheels. You find a lot of them on John Deere tractors.

Bob,

I have same on an F-12 and same brand on a 10-20. Are yours solid for the most part? Mine are and heavy as heck.

This F-12 is what I think is a conversion tractor from a waukesha to IHC motor. The number stamped in the IHC engine (near the fuel pump) is FSR 649. Have not come across anyone who has ever seen similar treatment on an F-12. Gurus have no good explanation because they can't find same in the archives. I'm assumeing there is information in those archives that explain how to inhale and exhale?

The front end is a Farmall unit original to the tractor with no breaks or repairs.

I just bought 2 widefront ends for F12"s and 14"s. They are pretty rare but 20 and 30 front end are even harder to come buy. I have two power lifts and one for sale if anybody wants one. I like those widefront F-series tractors.
