With more info as to the loader being lift pressure only, M's suggestion to put a shutoff valve in the line going to the loader is sensible. It might be necessary to put a similar valve in the line going to the 2 Way valve (Xmas Tree)it may be open center, bleeding all pressure to return unless shut off.
I do not think this would be "period" correct, as I don't think there is any "correct". I would also remind that the valve would be a safety issue in that the loader would need to be raised when the valve was closed. This would allow the loader to (possibly) drop if the valve was turned while the loader was up, either stationary, or moving. JimN

The "period correct" way would be to remove the loader, or at least unplumb it, and plumb in the xmas tree valve.

Farmers had a lot more time back then.

You would definitely need a way to shut flow off to the valve to use the loader, and a way to shut flow off to the loader to use the valve.

However, it's $62.99, pretty expensive. If you're going to spend that much, why not get a one-way spool valve so you can run BOTH at the same time:
