Hydraulic jerks on Farmall Cub

I posted earlier, but cannot find my posting. I changed the hydraulic fluid in my Cub, and now, sometimes the lift system has the jerks, or hiccups(as some call it). After a while, the jerks usually stop, and they are steady after that. I changed fluid the way I was told, by letting the arms down, draining, and re-filling. Should I just keep using the tractor, or are there some issues that need tending to? Thanks!

I took the fill plug out and cycled the lift all the way up and down about 30 times. Still not convinced it's fixed, because after running it for about 5-10 minutes, it becomes stable anyway. I used Napa R&O hydraulic fluid. Should I have used a different type? I wish I had left the old fluid in there to start with, because it worked fine before I messed with it. If someone could tell me what type fluid I should use, I'd appreciate it. Thanks..... ....Tab

Tab, you probably have some air trapped in the system. Take the fill plug out, and cycle the lift several times to bleed out the trapped air. This should fix'er right up.

I'll try that, but won't I lose alot of fluid when I cycle the lift up? Thanks.

Not unless you overfilled it.

Let me get this straight before I attempt anything. When I drained and re-filled this last Fall, I lowered the arms all the way down, pulled the drain plug and drained all of it out(then put the drain plug back tight). Then, I filled until it ran out of the fill-hole. Put the plug back in tight, and worked the lift. I DID notice that the lift wasn't leaking down(while sitting) before I changed the fluid. Now, it will leak down over the course of a couple days. So, the air cannot get out of the system unless I remove the fill plug and cycle the lift? Any idea how many times I need to cycle?Thank y'all for the advice!
