The Vet's got it right. There are three types of park lock linkages. The original 06 series style used a solid linkage that was prone to bending if the park handle was forced down while the pawl was not alingned with the teeth in the reverse driven gear. Once the linkage bends, your park pawl will not fully engage. This style was used through the 66 series. The second type was the aftermarket spring loaded linkage, which would "give" if the pawl was not lined up. Once the tractor rolled just enough, the spring in the linkage would force the pawl to engage the gear. These work OK, but are not as good as the spring loaded pawl, which came out with the 86 series. These use a solid over center linkage with a very heavy spring under the trans cover, which forces the park pawl to engage the gear. This style can be made to fit your 806, and is by far the safest.

The park pawl may also be bad. Take the advise that tractor vet gave you and replace the park lock link $35 part The park pawl is about $60 plus the gaskets, so it"s not a bad problem to fix.

I was not talken about that mickymouse linkage i am talken about the REAL spring loaded park loc spring that you install on the under side and the last one that i did the package from Case IH was with all pices and parts was around 135 buck . If ya tryed usen one of them aftermarket ones over here in the hills it would be headed down the hill before ya got out of the seat. BTDT.

the best fix is to install the SPRING loaded park lock. and throw away the old over center. This is not a hard job and only requires two gskt's . and if ya have never done one before a spare set of hands . as you will have to pull the range transmission top shift cover and the side cover on the left side as the rev. shift lever will come with the top and you will want to also check for any ware on that shaft while your in there .

If your parking brake is jumping out of park and you have an ajustable link with an external spring, you can get a kit from caseIH.The kit put the spring on the inside and makes a much better set-up.
