My H, I used a diagram from robert melvilles albums...My 12v conversion. I can't turn the tractor off! So, I see that the diagram used the top #1 and 2 of the alternater. # 2 went to the batter peg on back of alternater. Then, #1 went to switch but on the same side of the switch that allowed the electicity to flow even if swith is off. If I place the #1 to the other side of the switch, will that matter? His diagram shows it the other way now but if the alternater is turning, it's putting carge to the coil so I can't turn it off...??? anyone seen that diagram and what am I doing wrong?

For sure!!
There is a 3 amp 200 piv diode needed in the wire comming from #1 on alt to the switch. The diode needs to be placed in series with the wire, with the band end of the diode placed toward the alternator. This prevents back feeding electricity to the coil. This is sure fire the problem. Do not attach the wire on the other side of the switch. JimN
