It fired! I couldn't run it for very long because it was late, but it's running!

It started leaking oil like a siv out from behind the hydraulic pump. Not new oil, old black crap. So, dunno about that.
Anyway, it's running! :D
The best part: Now Gordo can stop hounding me! 8)

Nope. I had chores when I got home from work. Didn't have time to bring it out. Now that I know it runs, I need to see if it drives. I'll try it this weekend.
I've never driven an H before. :lol:

Please tell my wife it's good news. She is unhappy with the drips in the driveway. And starting the tractor at 9pm didn't exactly thrill her either.

Tell your wife that instead of saying poop happens, she can now say "grease happens." No more potty mouth! LOL!

I tried to keep my brand new garage floor and driveway perfect... no dice. Dang kids on their bikes skidded across the fresh driveway and of course the first oil change at the new house I spilled used oil all over in the garage. Now that it's broke in I'm not afraid to work out there anymore!

You gotta get some video up on YouTube for us!

Broken down to squid's terms: Go to plumber's supply house. 1- 2 inch pipe 8 inches long,threads both ends 1- 2 inch coupling 1- 2 inch pipe, 4 inches long, threads one end 1- tube anti-sieze compound.

Install 8 inch piece into manifold TIGHT Install coupling on that TIGHT Coat the 4 inch piece with ant-sieze and install to coupling just snug. Install muffler on the 4 inch piece TIGHT Wash the pipes anbd coupling down before assembly with acetone, and paint with hi-temp black or stove paint rattle can Now you can "unscrew the muffler AND the 4 inch piece to go into the garage.

Thanks Nick, I'm going to do this on the SMTA show tractor, and NOT leave the $150 dollar chrome muffler on there when I leave for the night.

Muffler clamp Idea!
The muffler is going to be deformed by a clamp (that is the job of the clamp)
Repeatedly doing this will wear out the muffler from metal fatigue, and is not handy.
The best I can come up with is a screw mouint system. Replace the 13" long exhaust pipe with athree pieces as follows: Start at the manifold casting using a short, 8" long 2" pipe size black iron pipe nipple (threads on both ends). Then a 2" black Iron coupling, then a short 4" piece of 2" black iron pipe with threads on only one end. Clamp the muffler to the last piece, and (using silver Permatex Molybdnum disulfide based antisieze compound on the threads to allow unscrewing)screw the pipes together, and into the manifold. Tighten the two bottom pieces first, and nice and tight, then screw the top pipe into the coupling less tight. This will allow you to unscrew the muffler when ready to put it in the garage. Some mufflers will fall down on the pipe and hit the hood, So no clamp seems less desirable. JimN

Way to go!!! The leak is hopefully just the seals in the lift all. Many posts in the past on how to fix this.

Don"t you just love it when a plan comes together! Farmer may be right about the oil leak. not too bad of a fix, but can be a pain the first time. If it is the upper shaft it may be a bad bearing,(common problem) but should be able to get to that without pulling the top off the tranny. see what you can see through the inspection plates near the pump.

Good On You! Bout like spanking a newborn on the bottom and hearing that first cry! The leak is most likely the transmission output shaft seal that drives the hydraulic (belly) pump. What you are seeing is the heavy black 90w oil that resides back in the rearend and transmission.
