How do you adjust the clutch pedal on a 3414 backhoe? I replaced the crankshaft when I was rebuilding the motor. Now the clutch engages at the very top of the pedal. I was told I would ruin the throw out bearing if I left it that way, but I can't see how to make the adjustment.

Hi G Spence, loosen the two bolts that clamp the clutch pedal to the clutch actuating shaft. The shaft will have a squared off section beside the clutch pedal to put a wrench on to turn the shaft so that the clutch pedal has a 3/4 inch free travel measured from the floor board to the clutch pedal tread where you put your foot.

Please forgive my ignorance. As I was loosening the bolts on the clutch shaft the pedal drop. The shaft would make about a half turn. I made the turn on the shaft and I propped up the pedal in position to tighten the bolts. Well, the pedal fell down. Is the pedal supported in the up position by a spring? I could only find a piece of spring on the pedal, did not know if there was one or not and could not see where it would attach to the tractor. Please help
