Today I was putting my soup can exhaust cover back in the tool box my newly painted Super A. I decided it couldn't be a rusty old soup can in a newly painted tractor tool box. The soup can should be painted, so I went with IH red. maybe I should have painted it rim silver. What do you folks think? I also had white and moldboard blue. I painted my wife's gardening wheelbarrow with the blue.

CNKS said: Green.

I concure. Paint it JG green, then you won't want to keep it on the tractor, and you'll take it off at every opportunity.

Hugh, glad to hear you have a "prettied up" tractor. I painted my can IH Red, it"s a Campbell"s Bean with Bacon soup can. That kind of soup can works much better than noodles, beef with vegetable, tomato, chicken with rice....and much better than broccoli!

We"re planning a plow day for this coming Sat. if the weather cooperates...expect 15-20 tractors 1959 & older. Even a IH 15-30 will be there.

I still have some piles of snow if anyone needs some.

I use a polycarbonate jar that used to hold yeast. It is so light that if left on at starting can do no damage to either persons or paint. Doesn't rust, fits exhaust nicely and is always clean enough to pack with other gear when running the tractor.

I want details on the trailer! One is that a FLOOR JACK on the front to lift? Second, I like the locking pins, slick ride.

Not sure where they're made either, but I've seen new trailers for sale here in Nebr with that floor jack tilt arrangement. Slick idea!

Sharp eyes there, CT. Other folks have picked up on the floor jack, but you're the first to catch the lockdown pins. Elegantly simple design, isn't it?

I wish I could tell you more about the trailer. It's something my uncle bought for me to haul home a family tractor for restoration. Came out of Central Ohio, from a family-run start-up operaton. Couldn't tell ya if they're still around.

It is a floor jack chassis welded in for a lift.

As for the frame, the front extends far enough back (obviously) to accommodate the springs for mounting the axles.

I'd have to go out and measure (and will in the daylight, if you'd like, lemme know) to measure, but I believe the hinge for the bed is just aft of center between the axles.

It isn't obvious in the picture, but the bed does have a dovetail to it, about 15 feet on the flat, and another 2-1/2 on the dovetail. The dovetail is at about half the angle of what you'd see on a deckover gooseneck.

I've been really happy with the trailer. Hauled cars and tractors on it. Only minor gripe I've had is that when you jack it up enough for the end of the dovetail to hit the ground, the front axle is in the air, so that for a short while all your weight is on one axle. I call it an inconvenience.

Where did you find the weights that you have bolted on where the mounted cultivator bolts on? Have never seen ones like them and would like to have a set for pulling. Thanks RichH

Sorry to say that one cut into my fielding average a bit. Startin' the tractor from the ground, I'm good for .800 or better.

I have painted mine bright orange so that I will remember to take it off! Otherwise, it goes flying when the engine starts and I have to search for it!

F-Dean: We have to remember not to search too quickly when there is no wind. On my 560 diesel, I once looked up too soon, bingo right on the forehead.
