Got a tough one here, has anyone found the bearing where the mower pitman hooks to the lower pulley or flywheel. Looks like CIH # is M22212. Anyone ever adapted in a different bearing? Looks like it"s just a single ball bearing but different than I"ve seen. Also how in the world do you get the PTO yoke off the upper drive unit, It looks to be threaded but a 5ft cheater has not made it move and looks like the vice might break first! Any advice would be great as the grass is getting TALL! Thanks DAN

The shaft has left hand threads at both ends. After years of use both the pulley and the yoke have generally wound themselves on pretty tight. As for the pitman bearing, I seem to recall that they were very expensive to replace, but I guess the pitman housing could be modified to take a standard bearing. Sid.

I can't see what you are working with, BUT, I worked on an old IH sickle mower, for an A Farmall and rebuilt it. I am pretty sure I know what you are up against. Try turning the cheater bar THE OTHER WAY. Mine had left handed threads, so that when it was turning, the pulley would not work loose. Once we found out how it came apart, we heated the others a little and put a little penetrating oil on them, and they came right apart.
