Chisel, I have ran a MD for 49 years, It has been as economical as any tractor I have seen, parts have always been high priced but the life of them makes them cheap. No way would I have ever traded it for a gas even once in all those years. It was our first diesel and have never even considered a gas tractor again. Good luck, Chuck

It"s fun to play with but I don"t think I"d want to have to depend on it.

The MD's that I have had don't have the power that the gasoline versions do. They are lazy.
It is kind of like running a distillate burning tractor.

A member on here made the comment once that the start on gas switch to diesel Farmalls are more of a novelity now more than anything. He said that the money you save on diesel fuel vs the gasser you'll more than make up for in the cost of repairs on the diesel when it goes down.

Thats a yes, no and sort of. If all if well yes but if it has carb problem no. They start on gas and then when warm switch to diesel. Lots of power if all is well but cost big bucks if you need to work on them
