Here is a picture (not a very good one) of the insides of the starter on my M. The stud that that battery cable connects to was evidently loose inside the starter, and it looks like it broke that copper ring that is right next to it. I know diddly squat about these things, so I'm looking for the best option here. Fix? Rebuild? New?

If you want more pictures, I can try for some better ones, but I can't get much closer than 12-14 inches.

Thanks again

Check the rotary mode switch on the top of your camera. The one that selects scenery, portraits etc. One of those , probably a little flower, is for "MACRO" That's close-up. Or look in your camera manual for "macro" . That will get you in to 3-4 inches. MikeCA, you're the pro photographer. What else can he do?

I take it to a good Electric shop. One with an old timer that really knows what he is doing. Thats what I do when I have starter or alternator/generator problems. I at least use him for questions so I don't mess anything up myself.
