Down pressure on 340U 3 point- can I turn it off?

I like the down pressure for blading and using the post hole digger, but it is a pain when using the mowers. Is there any way to switch it over to a "float" position for mowing, then back to down pressure for blading?

My F504D has two pins on the lift arms (both of mine have leveling cranks) between the rockshaft and lower links. One position is "rigid" and one "free to float". I found this info in my owners/operators manual yesterday. The reason I was looking was my 88" flail mower was not trailing correctly. The Alamo (flail) manual said to place arms in "float" and I was, Huh? I have been around this tractor for almost 30 years and did not know of such. About 2 months ago I bought an operators manual and have learned more from it than the years of using it, I felt kinda dumb. So, I have since looked at other tractors and they have a "float" mode of one kind or another, if only on one side.
If this doesn't work, remove the rockshaft-to-lower links and use 3/8" chain and clevis for mower work. The mower should have guide wheels and the chains will allow you to lift when needed and float while down. I saw this also in the Alamo flail manual for tractors w/o "free to float" provisions.

The info you need isn`t in the 340 owners manual or I&T manual. There`s a seperate operators manual for the fast hitch and the info you needed was in there. Hugh was correct, there`s a pin down under the cylinder that needs to be removed. I posted a picture of the page out of my owners manual that points to the pin.At the left side of this page, in the "Galleries" section, click on "Help Identify". Look for the 340 fast hitch manual and thats it.The pin is labeled "A" on the drawing, just remove it and your in business. Mark

Go to the picture you posted and right click on it. Left click Properties. Drag your curser over the URL to highlight it. Once highlited right click on it and left click Copy. Go to the forum and post your message. In the classic view right click Optional Image and click Paste. In the new view click IMG and when it shows after your message right click to the right and left click Paste. I think that's what I do so try to post the picture in a reply here. David.

tesmith: My experience was 560, same series of tractor, and those had a pin you removed at bottom attachment for hitch lift cylinder. There is a large pin and small pin. If you remove the small pin, this allows the bottom attachment for cylinder to pivot. My memory is a bit rusty but as I recall this allowed the hitch to float upward about a foot. I know it was lots for most normal equipment functions. I only ever used mine on a fast hitch corn planter, but like your mower it wouldn't stand weight of tractor.

340 may be a bit different, but just take a look at the bottom cylinder attachment. Actually there are 3 pins if you count the cylinder pin.
