I need to adjust the tire width on my 460 rowcrop to get it on a trailer. It was originally setup for 36" rows and the spoke assembly is attached to the inner rim groove. Now the spoke assembly can't slide any further inward on the axle.

Any tips or tricks?

They have about 400Lbs of Calcium in them and I don't want to tip one of those over!! In my 30 years, I've never seen dad adjust the rims and I'm sure they haven't moved since 1959.

That was a typo, I am sorry. It is actually setup for 38" rows.
But either way the current total width is approx 90" (including the fudge factor) and the 10,400# GVWR car hauler I have is 83" between the fenders.

I was secretly hoping someone would offer to come move them for me!

If the wheels fall entirely off, or are so close as to be clearly unsafe, get it where you want it, lift the tires above the deck height with jacks and blocking, then put 2 4X4 one in front of the wheels, and one behind, long enough to go beyond the tires, then chain the 4X4s together so they cannot spread. It makes a cradle for the tires, and reduces rolling as well. JimN

Not to rain on your parade or anything, but a 460 set up for 36" rows should easily fit on any trailer that is suited for hauling that much weight.

You can swap sides so the hubs are dished in rather than out... Or you can loosen all the wheel clamps (if you have double ridges on the rims) and move the rims over on the hubs.

Either way, you need someone to help and a loader/forklift would be helpful...
