Havent thought about tractors too much the last few days. Been on a "Tiger cruise" with my son.
I'm in the Navy lodge in Mayport Florida watch the waves roll in.

although I did visit with the Captain of the ship and he said he was a John Deere man. I was wearing my IH cap.

Talk to you when I get back.

Gene

I'm an AT1, and worked and flew on the EP-3, which replaced the EC-121's. Our squadron had one shot down by North Korea years ago. Lost 30 or so crew. They beat that story into our heads as it was my responsibility to keep the aircraft safe from electronic harm (meaning SAM's and other threats.)
Thank YOU for your service as well, and thank you to all the veterans who served, and supported and continue to support those who serve!

I spent two nights on FFG-29, a guided missle frigate. It's no big secret as the "Tiger cruises" are designed as morale boosters for the sailors and also to let family member get a glimpse of what life is like on the ship.

After two nights, man was I ready to get off!!

I enjoyed every minute of it, but with my son being an enlisted man, I slept in their bunks.
Three tall, with about 21/2 foot between rows.
If all 6 tried to get out of their bunks and get dressed at the same time it would be a disaster.

I dont know if it is by design, or just luck of the draw, but seems like only two or three of us were getting up at the same time.

First night we were still dockside at Miami. Something happened to the sewage tanks. I think someone left a valve open and the fresh water tanks overflowed into the sewage. Anyway at exactly 6:00pm it came over the intercom. "heads are secured until further notice" Now I generally have to pee and take care of business each morning. There were a lot of guys in great pain for a couple of hours.

You can call it soft. I call it better quality of life. We have built a volunteer force that people want to come work for, and want to stay with. That was done by improving the way we treat people, pay people, and appreciate people.
I don't get terrific pay, but I get enough where I can live pretty comfortably with my family. I could make more on the outside I'm sure, but I doubt I would get as much job satisfaction as I do, and that's why I'm making a full career of it.

Grandson called this afternoon, just his orders, heading for Japan end of June. Finished his schooling at Great Lakes last week.
