My 1950 C Farmall has some slop in the steering, with most of it being at the connection where the steering rod (the one with the steering wheel on it)connects to the universal yoke. This appears to be a keyed connection.Would drilling a hole through the yoke and rod and inserting a bolt be the solution? I guess spot welding would be another option, but the next owner might not like it.
Thanks,
Charles

Have you taken it apart to see what condition the key is in?

Even if the slot for the key is a bit slopped out, I've had good luck taking an oversized key and grinding it down to fit tight in whatever is left.

If you are going to drill a hole, make sure to get it the proper size and use a roll pin/spring pin that fits tight. A bolt won't fit tight enough and will soon be sloppy again.

No. I haven't had it apart. The roll pin sounds like a good idea.
Thanks
