We had an issue with our H stalling after a few minutes of running, so it seemed like a clogged fuel passage somewhere. I figured this was a good time to take the carb apart and use the rebuild kit I had bought last year. I blew everything out and installed it, and not only does it still stall, but worse it has a large leak once you let it sit for awhile.

As far as I can tell the float looks good, but apparently it's not closing the carb fuel inlet, because I see leaks from around the gasket (between the carb halves), and out the carb weap hole in the air inlet. I tried putting the old fuel inlet valve back in and it still leaks. What the heck!?!?! What am I missing? It's not a small leak.

I'm with DCW. The most likely cause is the float hanging up. When you get it assembled and before you tighten the screws that hold the top and bottom halves together, turn it upside down and back several times and see that you can hear the float bouncing around in there. Also be sure that the new gasket you put in there is identical to the one you took out, that is, make sure there are no passage ways between the top and bottom halves that are being blocked by gasket, especially bowl vent passages

Check the float and see if it is set correctly. Sounds like the float hieght is the problem.

It looks like the float height is correct. It's supposed to be 1 27/32" from the mount to the bottom of the float, with the float in the fully 'floated' position, right?

I had the same problem with my H,turned out to be a pin hole in the float. Also be sure when your putting it together that the float isn't hanging up inside the bowl.I put a new float in the carb,no more trouble, then sold the tractor.

I'm leaving the float submerged for awhile to be sure there's no hole. I can't see anything that would hang the float up. What holds the float pin in place? It seems like it could slide out, and it really doesn't protrude much on either side of the bracket, so it wouldn't have to slide far.
