Tractor hadn"t run in about a year and a half, got it running and lately started seeing constant white smoke after switching to diesel. Hooked it to a plow to put a load on it. On a 50ft garden the first pass the white smoke just rolled, second and third pass not so much. Also saw what looks like raw fuel coming out the bottom of the muffler, (black thick liquid). Would a bad starting valve do this, injector problem or should I just bite the bullet and pull the head? It will be at RPRU Columbia next month either way.

Going to after this year. Have several food plots to plant but if she needs to be worked thats not going to happen on a regular basis here. Like I said earler, it will be in Columbia, MO, am going to bring it down on the 12th, stay all day and return the 14th for the day and take her home.

Yep, what Jan said,

That old MD was never designed as a garden/parade tractor and using it as such is just gonna gum the thing up.

Take it out and work the living snot out of it for a good half day. If it doesn't come out of it, she's tired and needs to come down.

That white smoke is unburnt fuel.

Good luck,

Allan

Your description is of an MD that needs to be worked some. THe slobbering of oily junk means it needs to be brought up to twmp under load for an hour or so. If it has a High Compression needed for diesel operation. That requires a Diesel compression tester, and pulling the injectors. If it has not been run, and is n ot missing radically on one cyl. I recommend getting buisy with it pulling something hard enough to work it. It is a worki ng tractor, and is not really adaptable for short small light loads. Good luck, JimN
