Can anyone tell me the proper procedure for installing tie-rod connector shims and adjusting for proper clearances on my 1948 Cub tractor. I want to eliminate the excess movement up and down of the tie-rod ends at the steering arm. However I do not want to get it over tight at that point and cause binding and excessive wear. Thanks for any advice on this.....Gale

Gale, I think when I did mine I bought several shim sizes and by trial and error added and took away shims. I took out shims until it wouldn't move and then added the thinnest shim for minimal clearance. One problem I have had with these is that the ball is not always round, so you need to check clearance with the tie rod at different angles. Roger
