Now that I am beginning to use my grandfathers 1940 Model H daily, my 19 year old advisor tells me I gotta have a three point.
Harbor Freights recent mailing shows a "3 point" for $70
Would that serve as a start on making a cheap hydraulic 3 point?
I have some cylinders

If you don't mind me asking, where did you purchase the Saginaw from?

I put a Saginaw on my 1945 M this winter. It is super well built hitch, and a bargain at the price. My Dad has a Work Saver on his H, and had to take off the original drawbar to use it. Saginaw uses the original drawbar. I'm super pleased with the Saginaw, and would highly recommend adding one. Great value for money. Plus, the guy at Saginaw is a prince to work with. I'm a 'Green Acres' newby, and he led me through the installation like a gentleman. (I'm sure he was gritting his teeth while I was asking dumb questions, but he never let on, and I'm thankful to him for his service.)

$700? Is there a cheaper place to buy these? Because the cheapest Saginaw I've found is 1300 w/o cylinder and $900 w/o cylinder for a worksaver. The only cheaper one I've found is a hokey pokey Cross Mfg. unit, and it looks a bit pieced together and restricted in its travel.

I paid 725 +125 shipping from MI to western IN just last week for my Saginaw. Fit right on with no problems. Has two cylinders included. My cobbled up M hitch has one cyl and the upper shaft has a slight twist to it from picking up big round bales so one upper arm is higher than the other. Someone also put ferguson arms on it and they are too light for the M power. Bent up nicely! Saginaw has good stout arms. Looks way overkill for an H, but better built too good than not good enough.

Just put a Saginaw 3 point on my H. Well built!!!! It was money well spent! My M has a cobbled up 3 point on it and it can be a pain.

I don't have any pictures in front of me, but I don't think it's a complete 3 point hitch set up. I know they do sell some sort of 3ph attachment, but I don't remember what it's for....No moving parts or anything.

Just off the top of my head I think it is probably a quick hitch. You pin it to the arms of an existing three point hitch, and it allows you back up to a piece of equipment and just kind of scoop it up, without struggling to align the pins. I don't think it would be of much use for a tractor no hitch.

That's a quick hitch just as Howard says. It's an accessory for an existing 3pt hitch, and doesn't work with all 3pt implements.

Scooping up the implements is how it works IN THEORY. In reality, it doesn't work well unless everything is absolutely perfect. The implement has to be on solid level ground and sitting at the right angle. The tractor has to be on solid level ground and you have to back in exactly right to scoop up the implement.

Take a look at worksaver.com and saginawcountytractor.com for commercially-available 3pt hitch setups that you can get some ideas from.

barrett, I forgot to mention, you will have enough hydraulic HP to lift about any implement you plan to use. Expect to spend about $700.00.

bgarrett, Eithere Worksaver or Saginaw 3-point hitch makes your H a completly new ballgame. I have a Worksaver on SH and Worksaver on M and a Saginaw on H. Except for lack of live hydraulics (which you can learn to live with), they are a God-send.
