Saw today where CaseIH is putting Doncaster Works in England up for sale to satisfy government regulators in the merger with New Holland. Apparently they will be keeping Neuss Works, as nothing was mentioned about it.

Anybody want to buy a good used tractor plant?

This Thread reminded me of the old Farmall plant in Moline IL. I drove past it a few years ago and it is still there although it has been divided up into an industrial complex. It sure brought back memories of when I was a kid. My dad owned an IH dealership and I used to ride with him to pick up tractors. That back lot sure was impressive. red tractors of every size shape and variation all lined up. What a sight!

Actually, Neuss was closed by Case in '97. They sold it to the City of Neuss, who bulldozed as fast as possible before any part of it could be set aside for historic preservation.

Not a problem Fred, a few bags of Tales Manure, well worked in, and anything will grow.

Isn't John majors related to Clinton? All of the liberals are the same. Put the poor worker to the unemployment line for some useless goverment regulation. I would like to hear from the PEOPLE who WORK ther what they think of this plan.

Actually, John Majors doesn't have a thing to do with it- it was a European Union decision to make CNH divest it. Actually, selling the plant would probably preserve those jobs- CNH probably would have shut down the plant and laid off the employees. The EU decision is aimed at preserving the factory and the competition in farm tractors. The New Holland small tractors are supposedly much better sellers than the small Doncaster stuff. Case also makes small tractors in Germany at Steyr.
