Did IH build a 4wd 1206? I saw one at a tractor show over the weekend. I did a double-take when I saw the front axle, and sure enough it was 4wd. The sign hanging on the front of it said the 4wd was a rare option. As soon as I get the photos developed, I'll post one.

Thanks!

When the 706 and 806 came out you could order a FWA from the IH factory .The front ends were made by the American Coleman Company .If you want to see a break down of the front go to your parts manual or look in an I&T manual.IH use the Coleman front up into the 86 sieres when the started to use the Elwood Fronts.

I can't shed much light on your 1206. However, I have a 660 that is equipped with front wheel drive. It was manufactured by Elwood Mfg in Indiana (?). They used surplus military axels and made their own gear box that attaches where the belt pulley would be. Works in all gears except TA. I believe it will fit M's going back to '39.

I've seen photos of Ms with that 4wd conversion. Those machines look really tough. I like 'em! I'll bet they can be a handful without power steering.
