Can someone tell me the basic difference between the B and BN. For what reason was the BN manufactored when the B was in production. Thanks for any info on this question.

BN had shorter differential shafts and housings, each one 4 inches shorter than on the B. This accomodated narrower rows on some crops than the B, though of course there was some overlap. Thru anecdotal reports, it seems that single wheel fronts were more common on the BN than on the B, though either tractor could be had with one or two wheel narrow fronts.

I'm going out on a limb here - wife grew up driving a BN, it had a tricycle front end, and left and right rear axles were the same width.
I spent some time working for the road commission as a teenager driving a B-something, mowing the side of the road, with a sickle bar bar mower mid-mounted, lifted by exhaust powered lift - what a lousy system! But I digress - road commision's tractors had wide front end, and a narrow axle on the left side. Can someone set me straight on these two tractors?

Sounds like an A. All A's had wide fronts, all B's had narrow fronts. Fond memories.
