A pulling friend of my show me this tip. He uses it on his 460 and I did it to my M.

First of all remove the swinging drawbar. Take off the horseshoe drawbar and the mounting brackets. Then reverse the brackets so the angle mounting plate is ahead of the axles. I had to take a chunk out of the top inside corner to clear my disk brakes. Weld the angle bracket to the square steel bar and then just bolt them back up. Bolt on the horseshoe drawbar with grade five or eight bolts and you're ready to go. For a hitch point, I just use a plate that bolts to the drawbar to center the hole and a twisted clevis with washers for spacers to adjust the height.

You'll be surprised how much of a difference this makes. It gained me about 20 feet.

One other way to do it is to remove the whole stock drawbar and PTO and bolt a thick plate to the PTO position. Then make another plate with your hitch hole. This plate is sandwiched between two pair of nuts that run vertically on threaded rod attached to the moounting plate. By turning these nuts you can raise and lower the hitch height. This is how a lot of the guys around here to it.
