Had to replace a motor in a 560D,a 282, used one from a 656D,serial #84xxx also a 282. When trying to put the steering shaft back to the front end, the oil filter housing is in the way, has the newer casting: Question is-- to put the housin on from the removed motor, the drain holes do not line up, can I drill a hole in the block about 3" back to line up with the old housing or am I SOL now? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Alvin

I havenot put a late engine in a 560d for about 20 years now but I do remember the late D282 had a oil pressure relief cartridge in block where all the original 560 282engines had the valve in the filter base so you have to have the flow thru the base correct

Yes they are 2 different bases, just like you stated. Now what would be the easist fix for the change? I was thinking [wife says that could be dangerous] about making a adapter plate to reroute the oil going back to the block from the pressure value??

As I recall there was two different bases used on the 560's, may be all wet, but look into it.

Alvin, I am not familiar with your tractor but after reading your post several times my thoughts are to whether a remote oil filter setup such as used on a street rod might remedy your problem. This type setup uses a filter head with filter and a couple of hydraulic hoses. Regardless, good luck.
