Greetings from the (cold) U.P. of Mich.

Earlier today, "Salmoneye" responded to a plea for help I placed on the "Farm Tractor Discussion Board" on the 10th. He provided a link here and said: "ask these guys. They will steer you right". So here goes.

Back in '66 I bought a used Super A w/Henderson loader that operates using a Charlyn PTO pump/control valve. It sees regular use as lawn mower, wood cutter, snow plow, dirt hauler, and all around back saver. As I "mature" it's getting harder to keep switching from loader to mower and back. I have seen a couple of "letter" Farmalls in the area that use the tractor hydraulics to operate the loader. It may not be as fast, but it is live hydraulic power and gets the PTO pump out of the way. There is a (for lack of better word/description) adapter block about one inch thick that is drilled and pipe tapped and that fits between the casting on the end of tractor hydraulic lines and the "touch control" housing so one can run hoses up to an aux. control valve.
Bates Corp. says they have one for $75.00. That's a little steep for me...or maybe I'm out of touch with reality. Anyway, before having them send it,I thought I might ask around to see what other owners of "collector" tractors might have to offer in the way of advice or other source of supply. Any help will certainly be appreciated. Tom

The diverter block is probably the most clean way to do what you want. Before you spring for the cost of the block, you can test the speed etc. for nothing but your time (plus whatever oil you spill). This assumes you currently have compatible hydraulic fluid in the Touch Control and the loader.

Remove the hoses from your PTO pump. Connect the pressure hose to the pressure tap on the small casting where the diverter valve goes. It will be the plug next to the smaller tube. Connect the return hose to the Touch Control filler plug. Run a Touch Control arm back and chain it in place. Push the control lever forward. The loader should work.

Tom, you could also use an IH auxilliary remote valve. See photo. These aren't that common on the Super A - 140 series, and probably more expensive to add than the diverter block. John McDevitt

Tom - I believe the part you speak of is a "diverter block." It bolts between the manifold and the touch control reservoir. I have a '66 Cub with a Int'l 1000 one arm loader which required that part. It set me back $90. Was also quoted $110 from another source. The 1000 loader can also be mounted on the Super A so I'm guessing it may be the same part for both the Henderson and Int'l loader. Make sure you get the gasket too. Chuck in S.E. MI

yes it requires the lines from the pump to the casting BUT take the two plugs out of the block that bolts to the rockshaft housing use them GPM will not be as good as the CHARLYNN you are using but have seen loaders used of these holes aint no reason the line assy could not be remaved and make these holes 3/8 pipe this would increase the gpm go for it why dont you buy another A FROM ME AND THEN WONT HAVE TO CHANGE AROUND UNUTS har har har do have some for sale west of CHICAGO 250 a little warmer here not to damn much still below xero

Hi Tom, Either I'm really tired tonite and didn't see a power beyond valve or the Super A didn't have one in the parts book. You should be able to tap into the touch control levers for loader orperation with the addition of a pressure relief valve for when the loader is doing nothing but that should already be on the tractor. I'll look again tomorroow. They also didn't spec the gpm on either Pesco or Thompsom pump. Do you know how many gpm pump you have?

Hi Tom, after thought, Add another pipe tee before your existing disconects and add a new quick disconect port. That will run anything from your existing touch controls but as you say slower.

You could also add a PTO shaft extension from your PTO driven pump to keep from changing everything. Or you could make a mounting bracket and run the pump from the engine.
