I have a very good question. Do you name tractors?? Like sail boats, how people are supposed to name them after their first love, do you name tractors, or do you just call them by their brand?
Thanks
Peachy

I call my 300 Utility "Little Al" after my dad, who left it to me when he died in 1993.

My Grandpa calls his 756 German Diesel "Smokey" and the 5088 is "Big Red".

Well presently there are 3 Hs in my barn.

1941 "Grandpa's H" which I cut my teeth on at age 10 but I don't own yet. Appearance wise it is in terrible shape. About $1,000 will get it to show condition.

1945 "Old Red" H which I have had 10 years. It is next in line for a repaint. It's been run hard and put up wet a few times.

1946 "Indy H" which was at my Indy residence for 9 years before I shipped it back to the farm. It's the one which runs like a swiss watch.

My '38 F-14 is named The Red Menace. It earned that name due to it's starting characteristics before I got the carb and the mag sorted out properly.

Years ago in IH's magazine "Farm Forum" they asked that question.I remember a lady saying that she called their tractor a lot of names when she couldn't get the front wheels out of the furrow. For some reason that articale has stuck in my mind all these years

my 2 MD's are named Ole Kate and Old Clovis. I am not sure how Kate got her name but the other one was bought in Clovis, NM.

Peachy, I'm still trying to figure you out. What is the idea of asking such stupid and pointless questions?

Clarence - '46 H - named after the angel in "It's a Wonderful Life". Now that he has a fresh coat of paint and is looking real good, plan on asking the neighbors wife who is an artist to put his name on him - small script like writing as seen at the end of the movie when Jimmy Stewart opens the book from Clarence. I named my Case 930 "Old Abe" beacause that's really the name of Case's company symbol of a bald eagle. There is a silver emblem on the front and little eagles in some castings like on the tranny. etc. The other tractors don't have any specific name. Merry Christmas and happy new year!
