I had the opportunity to buy a loader for the H today. The guy wanted 300 bucks for it w/ everything included. It was an International loader in great shape too. Called him up and he already sold it! Oh well...I'll be looking for another one. Just wanted to see how other people thought of them? Thanks
RC

Dad re-modeled a FORD loader to fit on my Super H. SH has Live 2-way Hyd. so I get a bit of an advantage over H's. You can make them dig without the hyd. bucket tilt. Drop the bucket almost to the ground, trip the bucket drive forward then lower the loader when You're at the depth you want. I've loaded LOTS of stuff with Dad's '51 M and Stan-Hoist loader with the same hyd. set-up. It may not be the fastest set-up compared to a new commercial/industrial, but then probably doesn't cost $15,000 either....

An loader makes an H (or any other tractor) much more versatile. If the loader is in good structural shape and it has large cylinders on it, you will be amazed at what you can lift. If you start lifting extreme loads, you'll also be amazed at how hard the thing is to steer when it's loaded!

Keep the loads low, go slowly when it's loaded, and stay on flat ground. If you don't have fluid in the rear tires, better find some wheelweights. If you're going to do serious work with the loader, consider putting some 6:00x16 tires on the front of it.

One last thing....DON'T let ANYONE ride in the scoop!

If you don't mind not having live hydraulics and can work with a trip bucket they are alright. But if you have worked with a hydraulic bucket you may
be disappointed. Greg

Originally these loaders were called manure scoops I think. I have one on my H and use it a lot. I use it to pick rocks from the fields, move dirt.It doesn't dig into the ground though you don't have any down pressure. I leave the scoop frame on all the time. The extra weight helps out when plowing and other things. I take the scoop off by removing 2 bolts, and put a 8 foot snow plow on the frame with 4 bolts. It works great snow plowing and you can pile snow about 6 foot high. The only drawback is it dumps right now. You can't dump it slow.

I found if you want to dump slow . Lower the bucket , then pull the drop . You can back up and raise the bucket . It worked quite well . Theres a way around almost any thing .
It wont dig but it will scrape fairly well .
Another thought ...

A loader on a H is ok. It makes the tractor hard to steer if you don't have power steering. If you are moving snow, plan on getting a set of chains for the rear tires. Keep loads low because the tractor WILL turn over easy!!

We have aloader on our H and it work fine. I think it is a 21A. It has an 8 foot snow bucket on it and it will move a bucket full of snow. The biggest draw back is the lift all. The clutch has to be out for the loader to lift. I don;t know what a loader would be worth, but it only cost 60 bucks for the seals to rebuild the cyl.

I have a McCormick loader on my '49. works like a champ, what the others say is perfectly true. I am looking for a snow plow/blade for it. If you would like photos, I can get you any amount you would like of mine. Send email to kennelly.donald@mcleodusa.net. I will get you what you need digitally.
