I called this man about a tractor on a Tuesday, told him I couldn"t come to see it til Friday evening, he said he would call me if he sold it. Just before I left on Friday, I called him again and left him a message and gave him my cell phone number so he could call me if he had sold it or if there was a problem, I drove 50 miles to his house, no one there, I called him, this time he answered, and said "I am not home right now, Oh are you the guy from around Silver Lake?"
"I sold the tractor." We really don"t need people like this! Especially with gas at $3.00! Thank for wasting my time and money Stephan!

I've been on both ends of these deals. I know how maddening it can be. I once went to look at a machine with the asking price cash in my pocket. The feloow said some other dude offered him more over the phone so he would not sell it to for the asked price. I was angry-you bet. I have also "held" a machine for someone who never showed up. As a seller, when a man is at your house with the cash in his hand - he wins. As a buyer, yes it would be nice for the seller to let me know that he sold it so I invest no more time in the situation . Chear up, another good deal is just ahead.

You called him. No answer, a good sign that no one was home. You went anyway. Seems to me like you made an unwise decision.

I know nothing of him, and I'm not defending him, but I've found out in the "old iron" racket, bring first on the scene with cash-in-hand talks the loudest!

More than once, I've been on the other side of a deal like your's, being true to my word of giving a guy time to get here, and being "stood up" by a no-show "buyer".

Perhaps that has happened to your guy a time or two, and he's learned "cash-in-hand" means more at the bank than waiting for someone to show up days later, and "kick the tires".

Right on Bob
Saying that up front is fine.
But a man should back up his word!!!!! !!!!! !!
If you dont mean it dont say it.
