What a disappointment. I needed a rim, and he claimed he had one. Of all the pieces of a tractor, the rim probably has to have to most integrity, otherwise it's a safety hazard when servicing by me or the tire shop. Sam sent me a hunk of scrap metal that he "visually checked", whatever that means. The tire shop found perforations and very thin steel under the surface rust after wire brushing for 2 minutes. He guaranteed my satisfaction, and during a long distance phone call he also promised to reimburse money if I wasn't fully satisfied. Guess what? No satisfaction, no refund of any kind. And his shipping is brutally slow. Be sure to ask for a guaranteed date of shipment - arrival was over 4 weeks from the day I confirmed purchase. If you're looking for fenders, or hoods, he might be able to ship you something 4 weeks later; if you're looking for a component that is critical to the running of your machine or your safety, don't waste your time or money. My hay is over 2 weeks late coming off the fields, and I have to thank Sam Adams for it.

I bought something from Sam several years ago. I think I paid $25 for it. I was in kinda of a hurry to get the part. He told me he would have to take it to town and get the weight and shipping before he could give me the total cost. I asked him to just ship it and let me know the total He refused to do that. said you could not trust people. So I told him I would just send him $ 50 and when he got the total he could send me my change. When I got the part the change was with it. I was willing to trust him but he was not willing to trust me at that time. That has probably been 6 or 7 years ago. I called him recently and he rembered doing business with me.

i bought a international 650 from sam adams thru ebay last winter and about the only thing that was as described was that it was a 650. the head was severly cracked in all four cylinders. the emblems on the hood were all held on with screws because the mounting pins were all broke off, the belt pulley was rotten and the tires are also dry rotted real bad.he claimed that this tractor ran like a bear when he mowed with it. i would say that if he ever did use this tractor it ran like a stanley steamer because of the cracked head. sam would not make it right and the ebay protection system is a joke. the only satisfactionm that i have had is that i have steered several people away from him that were going to buy from him.

I just drove 700 miles one way to pick up a spoke wagon from Sam. My only mistake was not making enough time to stay and see everything he has to offer. Sam is great to deal with, great to talk with and is simply a kind hearted person. I restore wagons as a hobbie, and if you buy a 50+ year old spoke wagon there is gonna be some rust to deal with. Don't know what kind of rim you needed to use on your farm, but if you expected near perfect you should have bought a new one, especially if you are counting on your antique equipment to bring in the harvest. Sam sells antique parts for antique equipment. He hays his own property with NEW equipment - maybe you should do the same.

Not sure who Jay Stewart is, but I've never posted about him - look in the archives. Fact is this was my first purchase of a used tractor part from anyone on this forum. No one else seemed serious in response to my want ad for a replacement rim. He was prompt in responding, but that's where it ended. The UPS shipping was fast once it got to the shipping outlet, about 4 days to get halfway across the continent, and he did apologize for slow preparation. Regardless, it still took far too long to get to me. I ended up forking out big cash for a new aftermarket rim, as I needed that machine back up and running weeks ago. From the phone call to the tire shop to the pick up, it was four days. Like I said originally, maybe a rim is a really bad decision to buy second-hand; I now know that first hand. You or I can install a component on a tractor with some tools without a middleman. The tire shop took one look at that garbage rim and told me not to get my hopes up. This is a safety issue for the employees trying to reinstall inner tube and tire, plus any time I have to add air. Years ago no one balked at servicing an old rim, but many workers have been killed by these things through the ages, and now there's a lot more caution. I've since taken the rim, along with my original rim to another tire shop for their opinion, and they too said they wouldn't work on either one of them. I maintain that Sam wasn't practicing due diligence, and he stopped responding to my emails. After waiting a while to see if he sent me any money as a refund, I decided it was time to speak my mind. I'm not wasting more long distance charges trying to get a refund. He may be busy planting his beans, but I'm busy making hay weeks later than I wanted (no thanks to him), and I can still respond here and in my email. I've had one experience with him, and it was awful.

Jason I hardly ever sell any tractor parts, and never have sent any parts to Canada, you must be mistaken. You need to get your facts right before making false accusations about people.

I think he's refering to another feedback.I bought a 2510 from Jay stewart, met him halfway
to my place and it wasn't even close to what he said.He then said he sold it locally and it was a good tractor which he didn't do either,he sold it at an auction in indiana. Then this uoflncolts
idiot keeps bringing it up.Probably one of his jockey buddies. If you check the earlier post jay even admited to it,but once again uoflncolts has to stir the pot.

Mike for your information I have sold (6) 2510 gas tractors at that Indiana auction. That tractor which you never bought(you have to pay for something when you buy it)is 2 miles from me and still going strong. You dont know nothing about tractors, looks like all you do is sit behind your computer and tell lies.Thought you lived in MO or was that a lie to.Why make remarks about Sam you have never dealt with him.Keep your opinions to yourself.

Jay,

I am sorry for bringing you into this, I really am. I really hate to see this "Mike" bring down peoples names, IT MAKES ME SICK. That is why I mentioned your name because he was trying to bring Sam's name down like he TRIED against yours. Mike can not tell the truth on anything and he should not be able to post here. I am going to contact Kim tonight and will see what can be done. Just like what both of us said, he had not dealed with Sam, why should he bring down a good name. I just don't understand some people.

Jason, that post I made was to Mike, not you. Sorry for the confusion. Mike has posted some stuff that wasn't true in the past. This Mike idiot causes troble all the time even when he has not dealt with the seller. I just wanted people to know that Mike's opinion was nothing. I think he is one of those want-to-be farmers or collectors.

i have met sam have dealt with him over the past seven years.not a lot,but on and off.i have talked to him many times on the phone.nice in person and nice on the phone.i have bought stuff from him and it was as good as he said.you are the only person i have heard of that encountered trouble with sam.i feel that if sam misrepresented the rim he would gladly send your money back.a man that sells for a living will soon go hungry if his word is not good.i and have never seen where sams word wasnt good.i would like to hear sams side of this story.i am not so sure this forum is a good thing.a mans reputation cold be ruined by one person,a person that doesnt know used from as new.in all the years i have sold things i have encountered only one person of this type.he thinks running but not restored means the paint is a little faded but the tractor is perfect otherwise.a fellow like that can cause a man a lot of grief on a forum like this one.if i was you i would give sam another call.remeber one thing, maybe he has been in the hayfield or planting beans.one rim wont pay the bills.you think what is more urgent, selling a fifty dollar rim or getting your beans planted.

i have met sam but have not bought anything from him. i have heard a lot of good words about him from other buyers. if he doesn't have a sandblaster i know i have had some good wheels that aren't too great after blasting.new wheels save a lot of hassle for the high price. try sam again for a refund.

I bought and old farmall wheatland diesel off Sam.Drove down and toured his place.Tractor was much better mechanically than described.Sam was very hospitable, honest, fair, and helpful.Seems the way you approach someone whith a problem has a lot to do with the result.Sounds like you probably should have bought a new wheel.

I've peronally met and had dealings with Sam Adams and I think he's a good man to do business with. I think he doesn't own a shipping company suchas UPS so I'm sure he has no control over how long it takes to ship a part to Canada. What size rim are you referring to as it must be very scarce to pay freight from Texas?? Tx Jim

If I remember right, which I do, you bashed Jay Stewart for no reason and it looks like you are doing it again. How about you start stating a reason for bashing these people, it has always been a friend of a friend of a friend's sister-in-law's uncle bought this from this person and he was unhappy. How about posting about something you bought and were unhappy about instead of what you hear????? ?????

I have never dealt or talked to him. But why bring somebody down to your level when you have not even dealt with him either. In my opinion you should not even be able to post here, all you do is stir up trouble and have nothing good to say. I sure wish that Jay and Sam could/would meet up with you one day, as they might give you a lesson you won't forget. NOW if you get taken by somebody, that is a different story and feel free to post but otherwise keep your mouth shut. ALSO YOU HAVE NO EMAIL AGAIN, LOL, YOUR A REAL GOOD SOURCE TO LISTEN TO WHEN YOU CAN NOT EVEN POST YOUR EMAIL.
