Someone tries that here, they wont live to learn a lesson. Im told that there were some old lightning rods on a beautiful old house, and when the owners were out, someone got a ladder and stole them right off the roof. What a shame. I know that those who sell scrap arent rich, but stealing is never justified. One of my friends dads recycles it and always stopps by here askin if we have anything, and theres ususlly some old wiring or mower parts around we give em'. Theres a big roll of fence around back, steel, and its all rusted and in the overgrowth, its waitin for him to pick it up. Its a good system, they get some money and we get "trash" hauled out for free. I bet if those guys asked they would have gotten atleast something.

Lanse, be careful. The laws are on the side of the crooks. If you shot and killed someone sealing your property here is what you could expect.

You will be handcuffed, put in jail, charged with murder, and will have to have someone with $$ to bail you out.

You will have to get an lawyer, and pay for your defense out of you pocket @ $250 an hour. The people opposing you will have prosecuters paid for out of your tax dollars. They have unlimited money to prosecute you. You will run out of money before they do. The guy you shot will be a deadbeat. If you just wound him, then he will have a lawyer paid on a contingency fee. The lawyer gets paid by your insurance company when they roll over and pay the scumbag or his family.

Shooting and killing or wounding a crook will ruin your life. The system is broke and not on our side. BTDT.

Lanse, how long do do you think it would take someone to hook a log chain onto an old tractor, knock it out of gear, and have their partner steer it while they take off with it down the road, thats what happened here, they stole them right out of the shed when no one was around. Unless you are home and on the ball 24/7, and never sleep, your stuff might get stolen and you not catch them. Sure, weathervanes have been stolen everywheres because of their antique value. How about getting your security light stolen off your garage?, well, if yours turns up missing, it won't be the first time in history those have been taken.

Most of whats being stolen now around farms and homes is copper.Or Small things they can get fast like tools,4 wheelers ect.Some are stealing home heating and cooling units for the copper and scrap metal.Two guys were even trying to steal copper cable from the transmitter tower of a local radio station.While the station was on air i might add.Most are crackheads and crystal meth users stealing for a fix.But to me the scap dealers and buyers are as guilty as the theives.Almost any of these guys will buy it knowing fully well that it is stolen.
