I saw an ad for an Hour/RPM Electronic meter for a 4-cycle engine Brush Trimmer, which connects simply through the spark plug wires (somehow). I was wondering if there is any kind of similar hour meter to keep track of (at least) the hour usage on my Fergie TO-20. The meter I saw should work except that the cable is too short for a tractor.

NAPA auto parts sell hour meters. Other parts dealers can probably order. They were not cheap, about $35 as I recall. They run on 6 to 24 volts and wire it into a circuit that gets voltage only when the tractor is on. It measures in hours and Tenths of an hour.I have one on my antique jeep.it does surprise me how little hours I have on the jeep for it's occasional rides.Less than 800 hours over 20 years!

Seems I remember reading of such a device on the 9N Ford board. Think it was in the JC Whitney catalog and fastened to the spark plug.
