Thank you for the welcome. The manual that came with my tractor is a service manual and so doesn't have the basics. There is a small lever under the seat on the left side. What is its purpose? Also does anyone make an undermount mower for a TO20. I checked Woods web site and they only show one for a 30. I'm surprised since they make one for an 8N which appears to be about the same size. Now to go order that owners manual.

Neal, that small lever on the left under the seat is your power takeoff lever. Forward is disengaged, push it back and it engages the PTO. The PTO has to be engaged for your hydraulics to function. The Fergie doesn't have live power...no PTO, no hydraulics. As far as a belly mower, I don't know. Seems to me if Woods makes one to fit the TO-30, it would fit the TO-20. basically they are the same tractor. The 30 has a slightly larger engine. You might want to check directly with Woods. Incidently, Woods makes good stuff...not cheap but good. Good luck and happy hogging.

Thanks Sandy. I found the woods info on a site named Tractor Buddies. The only info I could find that could explain why they don't offer a mower for the TO20 is in the Universal Mount section. It states that there must be a minimum of 16" clearence between the diferential housing and the ground and the minimum tire size is 12.4x28, that 11.2x28 won't do. If all I need is taller tires that should be easy when I buy the turfs. I will continue to check into this. One question though, do you think I should use a 5 or 6ft mower. 6 seems a little large but they offer both for the 8N.

Thanks Again Neal

Neal,
I don't have any experience with belly mowers. My finish mower is a Woods 6' that attaches to the 3 point hitch in back. I truly do like it. I have about 3 acres to mow in season, and that 6'cut at a time is really nice. Something you might want to think about. If you are ever going to bushog with your tractor, make sure it has an overunning clutch on the PTO. This keeps the flywheel effect of the turning blade from pushing you thru a fence or a tree or some other non-yielding object. It's a safety item that should be on every TO-20 or 8N. You should also check the gear oil level in the rear end. On the right side of the tractor directly opposite the PTO lever, is the rearend dipstick. If the gear lube is a white, milky color, the gear lube is water contaminated, and should be changed. It's not uncommon. Comes from being left out in the rain. If it freezes, it'll blow your hydraulic cylinder. This is not a happy making thing. Sorry, got a little wordy there.

Sandy

Don't appologize for the length of the message. It's all good info and I can use all the help I can get. I currently bush hog with a 45 Case SC and I don't have an over running clutch so I know what you mean. Are they a good idea with a finish mower? I e-mailed Woods and the response I received was basically to use the universal mount and 12.4x28 tires minimum, change to 30" rims prefered. I will use a 3pt if need be but I would prefer the undermount since I plan to use the TO as a mower to try to cut down on equipment. I mow about 10 acres. The field with the Case and the yard with an old Yazoo. The field doesn't really need to be hogged so I hope to use the TO to do it all. Neal
P.S. I will check the fluid for sure!

Neal,
I stuck the overunning clutch on and use it with everything. I figure I want ME to drive the Tractor, not the equipment to drive the tractor. I'm just the other way on equipment.I want all the toy impliments I can afford. I like the Fergie to do the heavy lifting and mowing and digging and anything else I can think up for it to do. Every time I think up another way for it to work for me, I just get more tickled.
I hope you have plenty of money. They don't give those tires and rims away. I guess maybe I'm cheap. I must be or I'd have bought a new tractor instead of 49 year old Fergie.
Not much info here, hope it helps.
