Any way I can see how an oil filter should be installed on my Fergie TO-20. (I know I could buy a service manual but don't think I would use it for any other work). The previous owner says there is no oil filter in place at this time since he couldn't find a place for it to be(I bought it in the spring of 2001), so before I change the oil this season I want to have some idea of what to expect inside the oil pan. I do have an owner's manual. I am new to tractors but have an aptitude for machines and do all my own servicing on the regular mowers and such. Thanks in advance.

I am betting that there are no clamping and housing parts for the oil filter. Any source for these parts if I remove the oil pan and find nothing there? I do have the oil filter in hand recommended for my Fergie. Hope I can purchase after-market parts somewhere, but where?? Thanks in advance.

the only thing that might be gone is the spring and washer in side. if the gasket or brass washer on bolt are gone you would have a leak.your MF dealer can help if he is any good to get the parts the spring is not any thing special but must be strong enough to hold the filter up thigt.
