I have found a ferguson sickle Bar mower for sale. It looks to be in good shape he has everything to hook it up with and some spare blades. He told me that he paid $125 for it. He has had it for about 6-8 years. I was wondering how much it would be worth and what would be a reasonable price.

Daniel:

You may not know this so I'll pass it along. Be VERY careful when lifting the mower by hand to secure it for travel. DO NOT let your fingers get between the guards and the cutting section. There is a possibility of having you fingers cut off, if the blade moves, and your fingers are trapped against the guard!

Sounds like a good deal. I paid 300 Canadian for a Massey Ferguson mower a few years ago.

I just managed to get one for free to restore, but I cannot work out how to attach that long pole thing to the tractor. The oil reservoir is vertical on mine, yours? Any help would be appreciated!

A 5a ee b20 model, serial number 47354. I would be extremely grateful for a manual email, I need to know how it comes apart ( certain pieces are difficult to work out) and how it attaches to the tractor.

If it works good and the sickle sections and guards are sharp enough to do what you want to do that sounds like a great deal to me. Is it a mid-mount or rear mount?

The sickle mower is a rear mount.

Don't think you could go wrong with that. Check the pitman that drives the sickle for looseness, and the u-joints in the drive shaft. It's a pretty simple outfit.
