Ferguson FE35 tractors were built from 1956-1958, with petrol, TVO or diesel engines. The tinwork was grey, the engine and transmission was gold.

( During 1958 they became red Massey-Ferguson MF35 tractors.)

The engine letters are correct for a Grey & Gold FE 35 tractor.

The letters in the engine serial number, SJ nnnn ES mean the following:

Standard Diesel 23C ( 3.5/16th inch bore), with single clutch.

More details are indicated by the prefix letters in the tractor serial number, e.g. tractor type, engine type & compression ratio, clutch type, and year

Does your tractor have a serial number?

I have a list of tractor serial numbers and year built, but not engine numbers.

But if yours was registered in Jan 1957, it cannot be an MF35, and must be an FE35.

These were called the 'Grey and Gold' tractors, because the tinwork was grey but the engine and 'body' was all gold.

If the tractor itself has a Serial Number plate, we can look up the exact model and year etc.

I 'll look up more info at the weekend.
