I just bought a TO-20 at an auction, looks good, runs good, except, its not charging the battery. A closer look and I see I have a 12 volt battery on a 6 volt sytem. I am interested in converting to a 12 volt system but can not find a conversion kit. Anyone know where I can find one? I can find an 8N 12 Volt conversion kit, will that work?

George,
At the top left of this page is "Parts and Supplies". Click on that and then scroll down to Genesee. Click on, that and read the article about 6 volt to 12 volt conversion. Pretty good article that covers it well. Hardest part is making the bracket for the alternator. I did mine myself...if I'd known about this earlier, I might have used theirs.
Good luck.
Sandy

George - Stevens Ag Parts (1-800-333-9143) has a conversion kit that will fit your tractor. Cost is $169.95.

Thanks for the tip Paul. I installed a 6 volt battery to get my tractor running, had the generator tested, it is good, I bought a new regulator, still doesn't charge the battery. I think I'll go ahead with the 12 volt conversion to fix this problem

Should you ever restore your little grey Fergie it would be a lot better to leave it with the 6 volt system. Maybe your battery is to low to accept a charge or its got a bad cell. I would charge it and then test it with a load tester. A volt meter will tell you the voltage going in and out the battery.
