Forgive me for posting SO many questions.....but this IS the best place to find help!

The rod that controls the choke on my TO-20(1949)is just wired to the bellcrank on the carb. I went to the local Massey dealer.....but still couldn't find a picture or explanation of how this rod is supposed to connect to and operate the choke- I am sure there is a part missing. (On mine, pulling the lever out opens the choke!)

I would very much appreciate it if anyone could post or email me a diagram or drawing of what this linkage is supposed to look like.

Thanks!

A small cotter pin is all I've had on mine. Your question made me curious, so I checked my parts book and it also shows cotter pins.

Thanks, Gary.

I've got mine hooked up with a little hitch pin....guess I wasn't that far off! If I put a spring at the knob end, I should be in good shape. I guess it pays to remember that Harry Ferguson was a pure mechanical genius- and true to his kind, accomplished things in the simplest way possible. That's why I love these Fergies...and why they're so reliable and economical.

If I am reading this correctly on your tractor you pull the choke knob out for normal operation and push the knob in for cold start. This is backwards from normal operation. Take off your air inlet tube and look and look at the choke shaft. Might be possible lever on end of shaft is 180 degrees off .

Yes.....you've got it right.

Lever? What lever? (Therein must lie my problem!) There was just a peice of wire holding my choke rod to the bellcrank.

Thanks for the info!
