Creaking and moaning

Quite suddenly my TEA is making loud creaking and moaning noises. It sounds like what you hear in old movies when a ghost is opening a door with rusty hinges.
I have tracked it down and it's the pivot pin for the front axle. I did get that bushing replaced not too long ago and I think I lubricated it, then found out you shouldn't. Or maybe that was on the other tractor - I did the same job on both; that's why I don't remember (finally have an excuse besides losing my memory!).
Sorry for rambling. This noise can be heard from some distance; I have seen people looking around with strange looks on their faces, wondering what it is! So it's pretty bad from the driver's seat. Why would it start so suddenly? What should I lubricate it with? (I have seen other tractors with grease nipples for the axle pin, but without one, how could I grease it without taking it all apart?)
Or, if you all agree that the answer is not to lubricate it, what should I do? Obviously something is wearing pretty badly.
Thanks,
Jim W.

Hi Jim
I use the same moly spray that Ray uses. I have also used Slip plate graphite coating.

Granted, the owners manual says not to grease the pivot pin; however, I use spray moly/graphite to lubricate it. The carrier evaporates and leaves only the moly/graphite, and it does'nt attract dirt as oil/grease does. Oil/grease plus dirt = a crude lapping compound, which is the reason for the no lube statement.
